Bristol Office Cleaning; Automatic Window Cleaning Systems

Bristol office cleaning involves the exterior maintenance of many large buildings which boast a great deal of glass—beautiful to look at, but laborious to keep in gleaming condition. Traditionally, cleaning the windows of such buildings was done via manpower, but there may soon be a better way: Automatic window cleaning systems available from www.choicecleaning.co.uk/office-cleaning-bristol

Automatic window cleaning systems employ machines to “climb” up and down the surfaces of buildings via remote control, cleaning as they go along. This, of course, eliminates the need to suspend a human worker from a chair or lift and hoist him or her up the side of the building—a change which will act in the interest of human safety, as well as time saved.

Jon Arreguin, owner and operations manager of C-THRU Window Cleaning LLC in the United States, explains that there are two types of automated equipment: Large units (weighing about 200 to 300 pounds) that require a hoist motor to scale buildings, and smaller, more lightweight units (under 150 pounds) that only need a motor based on the roof of the building, not on the machine itself.

“Because a hoist motor is attached to the first type of unit, you have to comply with the regulations of the support system,” Arreguin elaborates. “If the hoist motor has a working load limit of 1,000 pounds, for example, that could add up to 2,000 pounds of counter weight that you need to carry to the roof.”

This means that heavier units are much more complex to set up and use than lightweight units. Lightweight units are so mobile that, according to Arreguin, “You can have two guys pick it up, throw it in the back of a pickup truck and go right to the work site and place it wherever it needs to be without worrying about throwing your back out.” Busy Bristol office cleaning professionals will therefore be able to use these lightweight units easily and quickly, moving from building to building with minimal hassle.

Exterior office cleaning is bound to get a whole lot quicker with the use of automatic window cleaning systems; Jim Diebel, operations manager for Pinnacle Building Services in the United States, has observed that these machines are “usually five to seven times faster [than manual window cleaners]… So you have labor savings, and you save on insurance.”

Most automated window cleaners clean and climb at about 35 feet a minute, which is obviously a very rapid cleaning speed; this translates into a lot of money saved for both the contractor and building owner.

There’s also a “green” benefit to these machines; automated window cleaning machines use pure water, meaning that there is no chemical residue left on buildings, and fewer chemicals ultimately entering the water supply.

Not only is this better for the environment, it’s actually a better clean; chemical residue attracts dirt, meaning that windows washed with chemicals actually get dirtier faster.

There’s even a privacy benefit—Employees who formerly felt awkward having a person looking in through their office windows while cleaning them will no longer have to worry about human intrusions.

Window cleaning machines are, however, not a total replacement for traditional window washers; currently, the machines have limitations in cold weather because the water lines freeze. Nonetheless, Bristol office cleaning professionals are sure to find them a welcome and accident-preventing adjunct to their businesses.
